Background of the Study
Stroke is a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide, requiring prompt and intensive medical care for effective recovery (Ogunyemi & Yusuf, 2023). Intensive nursing care, which includes continuous monitoring, rehabilitation therapy, and patient-centered interventions, plays a crucial role in improving stroke patients' recovery rates (Ahmed & Bello, 2024).
In Taraba State, stroke management remains a challenge due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure, limited access to specialized care, and a shortage of trained nurses. Many stroke patients experience prolonged hospital stays, poor rehabilitation outcomes, and high rates of complications due to insufficient nursing interventions (Usman & Ibrahim, 2024).
This study seeks to examine the impact of intensive nursing care on stroke patients’ recovery in Taraba State. By evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions, the study will provide recommendations for improving stroke care and patient outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Stroke patients in Taraba State often face difficulties in accessing adequate nursing care, leading to delayed recovery and increased disability rates. The lack of specialized nursing interventions results in poor rehabilitation outcomes and a high burden on caregivers (Olawale & Hassan, 2024).
Despite the crucial role of intensive nursing care in stroke management, there is limited research on its impact in Taraba State. This study aims to address this gap by assessing how intensive nursing interventions influence stroke recovery.
Objectives of the Study
1. To evaluate the effect of intensive nursing care on stroke patients’ recovery in Taraba State.
2. To identify challenges in providing intensive nursing care for stroke patients.
3. To propose recommendations for improving nursing care for stroke patients.
Research Questions
1. How does intensive nursing care affect stroke patients’ recovery in Taraba State?
2. What are the challenges in providing intensive nursing care for stroke patients?
3. What strategies can enhance the quality of nursing care for stroke patients?
Research Hypotheses
1. Intensive nursing care significantly improves stroke patients’ recovery outcomes.
2. Limited access to specialized nursing care negatively affects stroke rehabilitation.
3. Implementing structured nursing interventions will enhance stroke patients’ recovery.
